WHERE ARE YOU LOCATED AND WHAT RIVERS DO YOU FISH?
Battenkill Outfitters is based in West Arlington, Vermont, near Manchester. We guide on some of the most beautiful waters in Southern Vermont and New York, including the Battenkill, Walloomsac, Hoosic, and Mettawee Rivers, as well as select local lakes and ponds.

DO I NEED TO BRING MY OWN GEAR?
No, we provide everything you need for a successful and enjoyable day on the water. This includes high-quality gear such as waders, rods, flies, and tackle. If you prefer to use your own equipment, you are welcome to bring it.

WHERE WILL WE FISH?
We guide on iconic rivers like the Battenkill, Walloomsac, Hoosic, and Mettawee, as well as pristine tributaries and stillwater locations. Depending on the season and conditions, we may also explore nearby lakes and ponds for bass, pike, and other species.

WILL I NEED A FISHING LICENSE?
Yes, anglers aged 15 and older will need a Vermont State Fishing License. Licenses can be purchased online at www.vtfishandwildlife.com.

DO I NEED PRIOR EXPERIENCE FLY FISHING?
Not at all! We welcome beginners and experienced anglers alike. Our guides provide personalized instruction tailored to your skill level, ensuring you have a fun and rewarding experience.

CAN I BRING MY KIDS FISHING?
Absolutely! We love introducing kids to the sport and helping them build confidence and skills on the river.

WHAT ARE THE FISHING SEASONS?
In Vermont, most rivers and lakes are open from the second Saturday in April to the last day of October. Some rivers are open year-round, allowing for extended opportunities to fish.

WHAT HAPPENS IN CASE OF INCLEMENT WEATHER?
Your safety is our top priority. If severe weather or unsafe river conditions arise, we will notify you 24-48 hours in advance. You may reschedule within one year of your original date or receive a 50% refund, less a 4% processing fee. Please note that rain is not considered inclement weather.

DO YOU PROVIDE TRANSPORTATION?
Yes, we can arrange regional transportation with prior notice.

WILL I CATCH FISH?
While there are no guarantees in fishing, our expert guides will provide the best instruction and opportunities to help you succeed. The rivers of Southern Vermont can be challenging but rewarding, offering opportunities for anglers of all skill levels.

CAN WE KEEP THE FISH WE CATCH?
We practice catch-and-release only.

WHAT SHOULD I WEAR UNDER MY WADERS?
We recommend wearing long underwear for warmth and comfort, along with thick socks to keep your feet cozy.
