I highly recommend Battenkill Outfitters. My son in law and I had the privilege of fishing the Battenkill with Andrew during the dog days of August. In spite of warm weather the famed river did not disappoint. My son in law is a novice fly fisherman and I have over 40 years experience across a variety of watersheds. Andrew did a wonderful job assessing our skill levels and tapering the pre-water and in the water experience for us. We received patient encouraging instruction about positioning in the water as well as presentation of the flies we were using. Some bug life explanation (entomology) information helped round out the understanding of the water we were fishing. The equipment and the experience was first rate. We both managed to coax some Battenkill brown trout to the net.
A plus for me was a week at the Battenkill Cottage. It is a well appointed place to stay with an amazing stretch of private water to fish as well. Arlington is a six hour drive from my home in Western New York. It is a drive I would make again.

We fished with Andrew while out in VT for a wedding. It was a wonderful day on the Battenkill. There was a wide range of experience within our group, and Andrew supported each person at just the right level, teaching the beginners the basics and offering new skills to those who were more experienced to expand their options on the river. Andrew was fun, friendly, and flexible throughout the day. It was a highlight of the trip - couldn't recommend more highly!

Drew is one of the good ones. He knows his fish, knows the water, knows the bugs, and knows the birds looking for the bugs on the water that'll tell you where the fish are. Even if you don't catch a fish (don't worry, you probably will), you're in for a great day with one of the best guys and guides around.

I hired Andrew as a fly fishing guide for my wife and I. We're both in our late 60's and fish frequently, mostly in Connecticut. Andrew met us on time both days and we found him to be very knowledgeable, pleasant and helpful. He was so nice that my wife and I were immediately comfortable and pleased with our choice. He brought us to some great locations where the brookies were abundant and hungry. He showed us his house right by the river and, had we not already had accommodations, we would have stayed there in a heartbeat! Overall, we had a great time with Andrew and we look forward to seeing him again soon. We HIGHLY recommend him as a guide and his house as a place to stay!
